This page showcases my winning entries for the ‘Pimp My Bin’ competition for Body & Soul Music Festival as part of their Sustainability Awareness Campaign.
I always try to inject a sense of humour into my work and wanted to create designs which reflected this and were also appealing to children – as the festival is also aimed at families.
The designs I came up with were ‘Compost Compote’ – wherein I changed the whole of the bin to look like a giant yoghurt pot; ‘General Waste’, wherein I transformed the bin into an Army General and finally a ‘Mixed Recycle Bot’ with an interactive head piece which people could pop their heads into and pretend to be the robot.
I believe I successfully revamped objects which are otherwise never thought of as being potential pieces of art and so got people thinking about their own views towards sustainability.
